I wrote this a few weeks back after we had two guys here that were talking about the Amish and living out forgiveness after the massacre at one of their one room schools. I printed it out and have it on my office wall.
I have been working with a student that was sexually assaulted by another student over the last two days and this poster on my wall has been a good reminder not to demonizes the aslant. Every one act out of their own needs and history. Their is always a story and pains behind someone acting out in violence. It is hard to remember this but I pray i always remember.
Here is what I wrote and is now on my office wall:
I Forgive.
Loving God, help me with my unforgiving.
Lord, teach me to forgive.
Forgiveness is a journey and a journey that one must chose and keep on choosing. I chose this journey for my life and ask that God help me in this life to live out the power and grace of forgiveness. May forgiveness fill my thoughts. May grace fill my mouth. May love guide my actions. May Christ be my guide.
I Chose Forgiveness.
